Today, the Minister of the Ministry for Communities and Return, Mr. Nenad Rašić, received for a working visit the new Ambassador of the European Union in Kosovo, Mr. Avio Orav, who was accompanied by his closest associates. The aim of this meeting was getting to know each other better and served as a starting point for possible future collaborations, with a special focus on  issues related to the mandate of the Ministry for Communities and Return. 

During the meeting, Minister Rašić informed the Ambassador Orav about the activities and initiatives that his Ministry has undertaken so far. He emphasized the continuous commitment of the Ministry in terms of improving the conditions for the different communities living in Kosovo, including the return of displaced persons, their successful integration into society and ensuring their rights. An important part of the discussion during the meeting was the strategy of the Ministry for Communities and Return for the next period. Minister Rašić presented a broad overview of the Ministry's strategic plans, which include the improvement of policies for the  return of the displaced, as well as the creation of new mechanisms for their support. Another important topic of discussion was the political situation in Kosovo and the impact that this situation has on the process of return and integration of communities. Minister Rašić also emphasized the urgent need for the removal of the measures which, unfortunately, are mostly affecting the lives of minority citizens, since MCR has two projects (RRK-CSP) which are essentially more important and which are being co-financed with the EU -in and are of great importance to be continued.

However, he expressed optimism for the future and emphasized that dialogue and cooperation with international actors are the key for solving of these challenges.

On the other hand, the new EU Ambassador in Kosovo, Mr. Avio Orav stated that he is ready to cooperate with the Ministry for Communities and Return in fulfilling its objectives. "The European Union has always been a strategic partner for Kosovo and will continue to be a strong supporter of your efforts in terms of improving the situation of communities and returnees," declared Orav.
