The Minister for Communities and Return, Nenad Rašić, presented to the representatives of the Quint countries an important document, "Strategy for Protection of Rights and Interests of Communities and their Members", with the aim of ensuring sustainable return, long-term economic development and proportional representation of communities in the public administration of Kosovo.
In this meeting, Minister Rašić and representatives of the Quint countries discussed in detail the topics of return, reintegration, as well as care for displaced persons and voluntary returnees who do not belong to the majority, aiming to provide opportunities for stable settlements. Minister Rašić emphasized that the Strategy includes important challenges such as stabilizing and improving the well-being of communities through the provision of equal opportunities in employment, social services, education and culture. Also, one of the goals of the strategy is the proportional representation of minority communities in the public administration as well as the development of mechanisms for the use of languages.
The strategy is built on three main principles harmonized with international and European standards for national minorities: the principle of equal rights and opportunities for all communities, the principle of non-discrimination by trying to reduce the level of discrimination in all aspects of social life, as well as the principle of promoting the rights of minority communities to preserve their cultural identity and heritage.
Minister Rašić revealed that the "Strategy for Protection and Promotion of Rights of Communities and their Members" for the period 2023-2027 represents a continuation of policies of the Kosovo government for strengthening the multi-ethnic and multicultural character of its society. This document is part of the initiatives to ensure the rights and equal representation of all communities in Kosovo for a fairer and more harmonious society. Minister Rašić said that this strategy is an important step to promote integration and improvement of living conditions for all communities in Kosovo.
