In June 2022, work began on the construction of 34 new apartments for sheltered residents. Through this project, the Ministry aims to provide not only sustainable housing, but also to create a suitable environment where residents can integrate into their society.
Cooperation with the local community and municipal authorities was essential for the success of this project. The construction of communal spaces and recreational areas was designed considering the needs and suggestions of the residents, thus ensuring a suitable environment for everyone. Beneficiaries also benefited from aid packages, including necessary equipment such as electrical appliances, furniture, food, kitchen equipment and hygiene products for a sustainable fresh start.
In an organized ceremony, the Minister for Communities and Return, Nenad Rašić said that: "It is a great honor and pleasure for me that today we will hand over the keys to the beneficiaries of the apartments and with pleasure and joy we will tour the building together with the beneficiaries".
He expressed his thanks for the commitment and dedication of all parties in the realization of this important project, emphasizing that this is not just a building, but a sign of commitment to improve the lives of sheltered residents in Kosovo.
Beyond housing construction, the Ministry of Communities and Returns plans to continue providing support to beneficiaries, including grants for economic development, economic sustainability, and strategy as the most important part of long-term planning.
DRC looks forward to working with its benefits to distribute grants, educational courses and professional training.
The construction of this building is not only a project, but a symbol of hope and efforts to create a better and more inclusive society for all. The Ministry of Communities and Returns is constantly striving to make positive changes in the lives of sheltered residents, and this is just the beginning of a long journey towards a better future for all.
